Head/Neck

Head/Neck

Your neck is made up of your cervical vertebrae – the first seven vertebrae of the spine – along with bones, ligaments, and muscles. All of these pieces work together to support your head and make movement possible. If there is an issue in any of these areas, like inflammation or injury, you may experience neck pain, stiffness, or headaches. Pain caused by an issue in your neck can also be felt in your shoulders, arms, and between your shoulder blades.

Back

Back

Pain in this region affects 80% of adults in the US at some point in their lives and often becomes debilitating and disabling. Although chronic back pain is common, diagnosing the underlying cause is anything but simple. Your symptoms will vary depending on the area of your spine that is affected and the underlying cause of your back pain. To get the most effective treatment for chronic back pain, accurate diagnosis is crucial.

Chest

Chest

Chest pain often develops following trauma, treatment of coronary artery disease, or surgery on the chest wall. It may be referred to or come from the neck, or it may result from a degenerative spinal condition such as scoliosis. We have treatments for all of these pain syndromes. This type of pain is not particularly common but it can be debilitating for the people experiencing it.

Abdomen

Abdomen

Abdominal pain can be felt in the form of aching, burning, stabbing, or cramping in your belly region, between your ribs and pelvis. If it is persistent, you likely have already undergone a specialty evaluation for an underlying medical problem. In this area, we frequently work closely with gastroenterologists, OBGYNs, General Surgeons, Oncologists, and Urologists to understand the source of your abdominal pain.

Pelvis

Pelvis

Pain located in the pelvis can limit your ability to participate in physical activities and can dramatically impact relationships by interfering with sexual function. It can be a symptom of an infection or can even be caused by pain in the pelvic bone, nonreproductive internal organs, or issues in muscles, nerves, and connective tissues in the pelvis. Further complications can arise from the fact that pelvic pain can also be caused by more than one condition.

Joints

Joints

Joint pain may range from irritating to devastating, causing an inability to walk due to severe hip or knee pain. You may experience a mechanical type of pain that can be relieved by not moving, or unrelenting nerve pain that never reaches a comfortable state and interferes with all activities, including sleep.

Muscles

Muscles

Muscle pain or Myofascial Pain Syndrome is a condition that affects the muscles and fascia. This condition usually occurs in association with pain generated from another source. There are also primary muscular pain syndromes, most commonly fibromyalgia but also pain related to rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and hypermobility syndromes such as Ehlers-Danlos.

Nerves

Nerves

This pain typically follows some sort of trauma or is the result of degeneration of the nervous system. The trauma may be a direct injury to a nerve following an accident or surgery, or it may occur on a more microscopic level leading to complex regional pain syndrome. Degenerative causes of nerve pain include peripheral neuropathy, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and ALS.
