Treatments
We are committed to providing the highest level of care to those with chronic pain through a comprehensive approach to treatment.
The Redding Pain Medicine team utilizes leading-edge techniques to accurately diagnose and treat the underlying cause of your condition rather than just the symptoms.
Our focus is on decreasing or eliminating your chronic pain while restoring you to normal function. Once we have accurately diagnosed your condition, we can proceed with a treatment plan comprised of one or more of our innovative options.
Below, you’ll find more information about the treatment options we offer and how they can help you get your life back from chronic pain.
Overview of Treatments
We utilize treatment options like the Discseel® Procedure, diagnostic injections, therapeutic injections, radiofrequency lesioning, neuromodulation, vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty, and intrathecal pumps to provide you with lasting relief from your pain. The Discseel® Procedure
The Discseel® Procedure
Precision Injection Therapy
Diagnostic Injection
Therapeutic Injection
The goal of therapeutic injections is to relieve chronic pain and inflammation. These injections are usually administered to patients dealing with acute or chronic pain who have been unable to get relief from conservative treatment options. After an injection, you’ll likely feel immediate relief followed by a slow-release treatment over the course of the next several weeks or months.
Radiofrequency Lesioning
Radiofrequency Lesioning
Radiofrequency lesioning involves using an electrode that generates heat and a powerful magnetic field to stop nerves from sending out pain signals. This procedure is safe enough to be used in the central and peripheral nervous systems. This is typically an outpatient procedure that allows patients to return home the same day.
Neuromodulation Therapy
Neuromodulation Therapy
Spinal Cord Stimulators (SCS) (DRG)
A spinal cord stimulator uses electrodes and a small generator to provide stimulation that masks or interrupts pain signals before they can reach the brain. SCS is typically used after other treatment options have failed to provide pain relief. These devices can treat chronic pain felt in the back, legs, feet and a combination of these or other areas.
Vertebroplasty/Kyphoplasty
Vertebroplasty/Kyphoplasty
These procedures are sometimes used to treat fractures in your spine’s vertebrae, which can cause chronic pain or spine deformity. Treatment is indicated for severe pain causing medical complications, chronic pain if not improving at 8 weeks and to attempt correction of certain deformities. These fractures are usually caused by osteoporosis or other medical problems that require active treatment to reduce the risk of further fractures.
Intrathecal Pump
Intrathecal Pump
Sometimes called a pain pump or implanted intrathecal drug delivery system (IDDS), an intrathecal pump is an implanted device that delivers medication directly to your spinal cord fluid in the intrathecal space. The goal of an intrathecal pump is to interrupt pain signals from nerves and abnormal muscle contractions. Delivering medication directly to the spinal fluid provides greater pain relief with lower doses than is required from pills or injections.
